Broadcast Video Expo 2013 will be a celebration of Avid’s 25 years in the media and entertainment industry. It will mark the occasion with presentations from leading industry figures and demonstrations of its latest solutions for video and audio editing, on-air graphics, media asset management, and cloud-based solutions for collaborative and remote workflows. The Avid main stage will centre on workflow demonstrations of Avid Interplay Sphere, the remote editing solution that allows broadcasters and post-production houses to take advantage of the latest cloud technologies. These will be intermixed with guest presentations from leading companies including: Richard Moss, MD of Gorilla; Chris Rodgers, colourist at Splice; Simon Jones, MD and dubbing mixer at Soundworks and Chris Jones, filmmaker author of The Guerilla Filmmakers Handbooks. Tom Cordiner, VP international sales at Avid, said: “We’re excited to be celebrating our 25th year in the media and entertainment industry at BVE. Avid has been at the forefront of many of the key milestones in broadcast and post production in this time; from the introduction of the first Media Composer that ran as a Mac-only application and kick-started non-linear editing in the late 1980s; to transforming global newsrooms with end-to-end, open, tapeless workflows in the 2000s; and up to today where we’re continuing to enable our customers to work in new ways that 25 years ago they couldn’t have imagined possible.” E02
