Apple TV Plus ‘to significantly increase output’ in 2022

Streamer is reportedly planning a significant increase in its marketing spend over the coming months

Apple TV Plus is reportedly planning to follow in Netflix’s footsteps by aiming to release one piece of new content a week in 2022.

According to The Information, that would be more than double its content output during 2021.

Apple is also said to be planning on spending more than $500 million on marketing its streaming service this year.

The company is believed to have spent significantly less on marketing in 2020. In comparison, Netflix spent $1.1 billion on marketing during the first half of 2021 alone.

According to estimates by the end of 2020, Apple TV Plus had around 40 million subscribers, roughly the same as this summer, according to an individual said to have knowledge of Apple’s subscriber figures. Approximately half of ‌Apple TV Plus subscribers are now paying for the service, with the other half still using a free trial period.
