Andrea Basso, CEO of Sisvel Technology and CTO of Sisvel Group, will be making an appearance at Beyond HD Masters, which returns to BAFTA, central London, in one week. The 11 June conference focuses on what’s next for the European television broadcast technology marketplace, and Dr. Basso will be speaking on the subject of ecosystem-friendly formats for 3DTV.
Dr. Basso brings over 22 years of experience as research manager of AT&T Labs-Research USA, where he and his team designed and developed innovative multimedia services and technologies with a focus on IPTV and OTT platforms. He is part of the International Multimedia Consortium for Telecommunications (IMTC), where he oversees carrier technology activities including VoLTE and MPEG-DASH.
In the talk, ‘Ecosystem-friendly formats for 3DTV’ Basso will explain how formats that are able to deliver excellent visual 3D quality, support backward 2D compatibility and minimise the impact of existing infrastructures are key factors for the fate of 3D. As CEO of Sisvel Technology, he will present its experience in the development of formats for 3DTV and in the ecosystem created around them.
