Amazon is considering opening a production hub in Madrid, according to reports in the Spanish press.
El Espanol reports the company looks set to follow rival Netflix in establishing a base in the city.
Netflix announced the creation of its first European production hub in Tres Cantos, Madrid, in July. It is expected to produce 12 shows a year.
The newspaper says Amazon is in talks to find a location to build its European base of operations, and Spain appears to be at the top of the list.
Amazon is said to have been talking to Spanish producers for months, looking to “do something similar to Netflix.”
The new production hub will work alongside the company’s headquarters in London.
