To be shown at IBC, MultiDyne’s new MDoG modules support uncompressed ST-2110 transport and low-latency JPEG-XS compression
MultiDyne Video & Fiber Optic Systems returns to IBC this year with strong momentum behind its European business, and a new ST 2110 product line to meet an expected surge in demand as Europe nears adoption of the standard. Receiving its European debut, the award-winning MDoG Series features SMPTE ST 2110 network interface and low-latency JPEG-XS codec options to help customers build stronger bridges between the SDI and IP worlds.
Formally introduced at NAB, the MDoG series helps broadcasters and content creators efficiently manage uncompressed and compressed signals as they move between legacy systems and IP networks, with full redundancy to optimise performance. Available as openGear modules, they represent MultiDyne’s first true IP gateway solutions for uncompressed ST 2110 networks. The modules provide a reliable SDI-to-IP network interface with exceptionally wide bandwidth, helping broadcast and media companies optimise throughput for uncompressed 4K and HD video transport.
Sebastian Mucha, EVP of R&D and European Operations, shares that the adoption of the ST 2110 standard has been “progressing steadily,” with larger markets like the UK, Germany and France as early adopters setting the stage for what’s to come.
“European broadcasters are driving adoption through a need to modernise infrastructure, support 4K and 8K resolutions, and integrate with cloud-based workflows,” said Mucha. “As broadcasters continue to adopt these technologies, we can expect to see more innovative use cases and business models emerge, further enhancing the flexibility, scalability, and efficiency of media production and distribution. We provide nine variations of our MDoG Series to give our customers plenty of options to help our clients navigate their journeys to ST 2110.”
Mucha cites remote production and interoperable multi-vendor environments as two key business opportunities for ST 2110 and JPEG-XS emerging in Europe as IBC approaches. The MDoG Series offers the following:
- MDoG-6060 ST 2110 Gateways: For uncompressed transport, the ST 2110 gateways come available in multiple I/O configurations for 3G-SDI (3×3, 6×2 and 2×6) and 12G-SDI (1×1, 2×0 and 0x2) systems. Each configuration offers two 25GB network interfaces to support redundant transport streams.
- MDoG-6061 JPEG-XS Codecs: These codecs support high-density signal transport in modern workflows where uncompressed transport isn’t yet a reality. The MDoG-6061 JPEG-XS encoders and devices support TR-08 compliant, low-latency compression or decompression of up to two channels of 12G-DSI over dual 10GB network interfaces.
- SMPTE ST 2022-7 Compliance: The ST 2022-7 standard provides hitless merge functionality, which means that the two network streams will borrow packets from each other to maintain signal integrity as they move through the network, ensuring streams are reassembled and intact upon reaching their destinations. This feature is available in all MDoG modules.
MultiDyne will also introduce two new models for its second-generation NanoBrix line of throwdown converters, both available with LC or ST connectors:
- The NB2-12G-HDMI is a 12G to HDMI 2.0 converter with SDI and fibre optic input options. The device accepts a 12G 4K SDI signal and converts it to HDMI for live confidence monitoring. A popular 5.1 audio to 2.0 stereo audio downmixing feature has been carried over from the 3G-SDI/HDMI 1.4 version.
- The NB2-10G-TRX is a 10GbE RJ-45 fibre extender with a POE++ option. In addition to LC or ST connectors, the NB2-10G-TRX is available in a WDM single-fiber configuration.
Mucha adds that MultiDyne has doubled its European team and relocated to a new, larger office space in Gdansk, Poland just 18 months after officially launching its Europe operations. “We continue to invest in engineering talent, and our new office space better prepares for future growth and R&D investments while providing faster support to the entire EMEA region.”
IBC takes place September 13-16 at the RAI Amsterdam. MultiDyne exhibits at Stand 11.C12.
