Ateme has revealed details of a partnership with Telefónica.
Aiming to expand and enhance delivery of its VoD catalogue across a range of devices from mobile screens to connected TVs, Telefónica has deployed the Ateme cloud-native media processing platform integrated with Google Cloud AI and infrastructure.
The solution enables consistent 4K delivery across multiple devices, regardless of bandwidth conditions, aiming to enhance quality and reduce viewer churn, said Ateme.
Regional affiliates are supported through simplified rollouts and updates, and consistency of service provided by the centralised architecture while cloud-native scalability enables service optimisation to meet demand. The integration incorporates AI-driven capabilities including audience-ware encoded, automated metadata tagging and predictive demand analytics, boosting personalisation and operational efficiency.
Commenting, Telefónica’s head of video processing and delivery, Javier Lucendo de Gregorio, said, “For us, this project is about more than technology—it’s about improving how we serve our audience. The new platform gives us the agility to launch services faster, ensure consistent quality across regions, and adapt more quickly to changing viewer behaviours.”
Christophe Stigas, Ateme’s VP Southern Europe and MEA, added, “This deployment is a strong example of how we work closely with operators to address evolving video delivery needs. By integrating our media processing platform on Google Cloud as part of Telefónica’s VoD architecture, we’ve enabled dynamic resource scaling, 4K video delivery, and automated workflows – all while simplifying operations across multiple markets.”
