Serie A broadcasts first match in the metaverse

"We have chosen to be the first to broadcast a football match in the metaverse because we believe that the frontier of technological innovation is extremely important for a modern league," said Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo

Italy’s Serie A has become top football league to broadcast a match in the metaverse.

Sunday’s game between AC Milan and Fiorentina was available in the Serie A room in The Nemesis metaverse for fans in Africa and the Middle East.

“We have chosen to be the first to broadcast a football match in the metaverse because we believe that the frontier of technological innovation is extremely important for a modern league such as Serie A,” the league’s CEO Luigi De Siervo said.

“The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) represent a strategic area for us due to the dominant presence of Generation Z and the particular receptivity to new developments.”

As well as watching the match, fans were able to interact inside the room with special games related to Serie A’s competitions and visit the league’s official social channels.
