New Amazon Watch Party feature lets 100 viewers stream together

New feature is available on PC desktop

Amazon Prime Video has launched a new Watch Party feature that enables up to 100 viewers to stream content together via a virtual room.

The feature is currently only available to users watching via desktop. They are sent a dedicated link to share with friends and family who are also Prime members. So far it has only be made available in the US.

Prime members can host and participate in a Watch Party, with synchronised playback (which the host controls) and a chat sidebar to the right of the main video window.

Prime Video Watch Party customers can select from all VoD titles included as part of the Prime membership. However, transactional VOD titles (to rent or own) that are purchased from Amazon are not included.

Amazon said the new feature was built as a native experience for Prime Video.
