Nevion has updated its enhanced software-media node Virtuoso to include new wide-area network (WAN) capabilities.
The new functionality, which is focused on transport streams, is suited for broadcast contribution and remote production applications, said the company.
Nevion Virtuoso is a key component of Sony’s Networked Live offering, and is used to transport video, audio and data across WANs in real-time. The node’s existing capabilities include adaption, video-encoding, protection, and monitoring, amongst others.
The latest update includes ASI over IP transport, transport streams gateway, and JPEG XS in transport streams.
JPEG XS over transport streams allows visually lossless and ultra-low latency transport of HD and UHD signals, while maintaining synchronisation of video and audio streams, said Nevion.
Inge Hillestad, VP of product management, Virtuoso at Nevion said: “Nevion Virtuoso has established an enviable reputation amongst broadcasters, media companies, and telecom service providers, with its extensive capabilities and superior performance and reliability. We are constantly adding functionality to the platform to support our customers’ media transport, processing and monitoring needs. These new features are welcome additions to Virtuoso’s WAN capabilities.”
