Netflix’s AVoD platform ‘could reach 40 million global viewers by Q3 2023’

Netflix expects to attract advertisers from a dozen launch markets, including the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy

Netflix has reportedly estimated that its new advertising-supported platform could reach a global audience of 40 million by the third quarter of 2023.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Netflix and its technology partner Microsoft have met with advertising buyers in recent weeks ahead of a planned launch of the advertising tier later this year.

It says a document put together by Netflix states the streamer expects to have 4.4 million unique viewers for the ad-lead service by the end of 2022.

The documents adds that Netflix expects to attract advertisers from a dozen launch markets, including the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Australia and Canada.

Netflix currently has an audience of around 220 million for its subscription service.

Last month, Ampere Analysis predicted Western Europe will be the biggest generator of advertising revenues for Netflix by 2027.

The company said that Western Europe will generate $1.9 billion for Netflix, more than the US and almost as much as North America ($2.1 billion when Canada is included).
