NAGRA to protect M7, Unified Streaming enhances video streaming tech, and more

TVBEurope rounds up the latest products and solutions news from NAGRA, Unified Streaming, Atomos and Panasonic

France’s Canal Plus Group has selected NAGRA’s content protection technologies to secure pay-TV services for Luxembourg-based operator M7.

NAGRA Protect and Guard solutions will be employed across the broadcaster’s new and legacy set-top boxes to provide both card-based and cardless content protection and meet stringent studio requirements for premium 4K Ultra HD and early release content.

“NAGRA solutions deliver the highest level of content protection and what we required to secure M7’s premium content and service on a range of set-top boxes, including newer and older models,” said Jérôme Trift, EVP Technology at CANAL Plus International. “Having the ability to leverage the boxes we have in the field was key for us. In addition, NAGRA solutions enables us to future-proof our platform with solutions that can seamlessly adapt and secure content in a hybrid satellite/OTT environment and were the best choice to meet these requirements.”

Unified Streaming enhances video streaming technology for OTT streams

Unified Streaming is aiming to help customers improve viewer engagement by enhancing its video streaming technology.

The enhancement to its Unified Remix solution provides streams that are curatable to each viewer, which the company says opens up new revenue opportunities through personalised advertising, and encourages more viewer engagement through the addition of enhanced playback experiences.

Unified Remix supports all the major streaming formats: HLS – including CMAF, MPEG-DASH and Microsoft Smooth Streaming. Subtitles are also supported to help providers reach the broadest audience possible, as are the main DRM systems.
