TorrentFreak has named HBO’s House of the Dragon as the most pirated TV series during 2022, beating Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power which was second in the list.
HBO returns to the top of the list for the first time since 2019, when Game of Thrones topped the chart. In the following two years, Disney Plus content sat at the top with The Mandalorian and WandaVision at number one in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
TorrentFreak said its ranking is estimated based on sample data from several sources, and statistics reported by BitTorrent trackers.
In a change to previous years, the site added the BitTorrent traffic only makes up a small portion of the piracy landscape.
This year’s most downloaded TV shows on BitTorrent are:
