Gracenote has launched new sports-driven widgets that deliver real-time statistics and other sports-related content to TV and home video screens, as well as auto infotainment systems.
The widgets employ information from Gracenote Global Sports Data which enables viewers to access content including game previews, game updates, notifications on how to access the game broadcast or stream. In the car, games scores and league standings can be delivered in real-time.
At launch, the new Gracenote Sports Widgets will cover the English Premier League, Germany’s Bundesliga, Ligue 1 in France, Serie A in Italy and Spain’s La Liga, as well as the NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL.
Languages offered will include English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Dutch. Gracenote said it intends to add more global sports leagues throughout the year.
“Live sports are an increasingly important differentiator for entertainment platforms seeking to increase user engagement,” said Simon Adams, chief product officer of Gracenote. “For years, Gracenote has powered sports viewing experiences for the largest TV providers in the world. With Gracenote Global Sports Widgets, CE companies and automakers can easily launch new sports experiences which maximize audience engagement and drive consumption while minimising development costs and engineering resources.”
