Google is replacing its Chromecast media player with Google TV Streamer, which supports 4K HDR with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
Instead of plugging directly into the TV’s HDMI port like Chromecast, Google TV Streamer is designed to sit on top of an entertainment console below the TV set.
It uses Google AI and the viewer’s preferences to curate content suggestions across all of their subscriptions, organised in one place. Viewers can also build watchlists with recommendations for every member of the home, said Google.
The device also employs Gemini technology on Google TV, to provide viewers with full summaries, reviews and season-by-season breakdowns of content.
Google TV Streamer can be connected to a Wi-Fi network or via an Ethernet port for faster, buffer-free streaming, said Google.
