Arqiva has announced a partnership with System73 to offer optimisation, QoE analytics and CDN switching as part of its streaming portfolio.
The new service will utilise System73’s Data Logistics Platform, a centrally orchestrated P2P network and transportation optimisation model which identifies the best routes to deliver the highest bitrates to edge devices.
The service has the potential to reduce reliance on physical CDNs for up to 80 per cent of traffic, said Arqiva, which can lower data centre energy consumption by the same percentage.
“Three needs come to the fore when we talk to customers about delivering streaming media. Quality of experience, cost efficiencies and lowering carbon emissions,” said Arqiva chief technology officer, Dom Wedgwood.
“By enhancing our sector experience, valued partner status and existing streaming portfolio with System73 capabilities, we believe we’ve found a sweet spot with a scalable and sustainable solution to meet all three of those needs,” he added.
“We will be able to ensure content is delivered consistently, at exceptional quality, at reasonable cost with the lowest environmental impact, all underpinned by the reassurance of Arqiva’s 24/7 x 365 managed service capabilities.”
