Bundesliga matches will be streamed live on two YouTube channels as part of the German football league’s latest media rights deal in the UK and Ireland.
The Overlap will stream 20 Bundesliga games to its 1.5 million subscribers during the course of the 2025-26 season. Mark Goldbridge’s That’s Football channel has also won the rights to 20 matches, which it will stream to 1.3 million subscribers.
It is the first time a top league has granted live rights for an extensive package of matches to content creators in Europe.
Bundesliga International described the deal as “super-charging” its free-to-air strategy via the “trailblazing” partnerships. Both channels will stream the live matches in a watch-along format.
The league has also agreed a more traditional rights deal with the BBC, which will stream all Friday night games via BBC iPlayer, as well as on the BBC Sport website and app.
Speaking about the deals, Peer Naubert, chief executive officer of Bundesliga International, said:
“Our approach is as diverse as our supporters: by combining established broadcasters with digital platforms and content creators, we are taking a progressive step in how top-level football can be experienced.
“This multi-layered strategy allows us to connect with more audiences across the UK and Ireland, giving every supporter the chance to engage with Football As It’s Meant To Be in the way that suits them best.”
Analyst Paolo Pescatore praised the league’s decision to try something new, enabling it to maximise reach and connect with new audiences. “However, the multi-layered strategy looks a bit of a mess with multiple partners making it a nightmare for fans,” he told TVBEurope.
