FORTA brings 12 new members to UHD Spain

Spanish regional networks to be inaugurated into UHD association at the 4KHDR Summit

The Federation of Regional Organisations of Radio and Television (FORTA) will join the UHD Spain association at the seventh edition of the 4KHDR Summit in Malaga on Monday.

The inauguration of the 12 Spanish regional networks, with TV3 (Catalonia) and Canal Sur Andalucía at the helm, brings the total number of UHD Spain partners to 20.

FORTA represents public radio and TV stations from 12 of the 17 Spanish communities. They join the seven private networks that founded the UHD group in January 2021.

Separately from FORTA, TV3 will enter as an individual partner and Canal Sur as a collaborating company, as both entities seek a more active role in UHD Spain.

Video-MOS, Synamedia and the professional body of technical engineers in telecommunications (COITT) also join the non-profit organisation, bringing the total number of partners and collaborators to 36.

TV3 said joining the association “will allow our full involvement in the collaboration framework that UHD Spain represents, contributing our knowledge and experience and to also acquire new knowledge.”

FORTA said in its membership application that “UHD is the technology of the present and future that allows television to compete in quality with other modes of broadcasting.”
