BT Sport adds its Timeline feature to the big screen experience

The feature lets viewers watch key events in the match, including goals, yellow and red cards, and substitutions

Ahead of both the Europa League and Champions League finals, BT Sport has added its timeline feature from its mobile app to the big screen TV version.

The Timeline feature is now available in beta ahead of a planned full launch in time for the start of the 2021/22 Premier League and Champions League.

It enables football fans to see an interactive timeline on screen, which allows them to re-watch key moments and move back to the live action.

The feature is available in up to HD quality in beta form, with a view to moving to BT Sport Ultimate streams in 4K HDR for next season.

It is only available via the TV version of BT Sport’s app, and is not available to viewers watching via Now TV, Roku, Sky TV, BT TV, Virgin Media, or Netgem TV which has just added BT Sport to its channel line-up.

Jamie Hindhaugh, chief operating officer, BT Sport, said: “BT Sport is proud to have continually broken new ground in how fans can watch live sport in recent years and today’s launches are the first to come from BT Sport Innovates, our new home of innovation. We’re excited that fans can sample the timeline, a new way of viewing sport on TV, ahead of its launch next season. And in joining Netgem’s platform we’re continuing to make it even easier for fans to follow the sport they love.”
