Bedrock: scaling a stronger streaming platform while lowering costs

Bedrock CEO Jonas Engwall explains how the company is offering customers a shared core platform that allows capabilities such as podcasts and vertical video to be enabled market by market

Bedrock, the largest streaming technology company in Europe, is trusted by the likes of RTL+, M6+ and Videloand to deliver state-of-the-art experiences to 10 million subscribers and 45 million users.

The company aims to deliver a platform comparable to, or better than, global streaming giants for its European partners.

Speaking to TVBEurope at IBC2026, CEO Jonas Engwall explained how the company’s model is based on achieving scale to deliver more value at lower cost, offering customers a shared core platform that allows capabilities such as podcasts and vertical video to be enabled market by market.

He also spoke about how Bedrock has worked with the DPP to develop the Streaming Platform Ratio, a measurement of streaming technology and operational costs against streaming revenue, excluding content and marketing.

Plus, Engwall revealed plans for Bedrock to become more active in live sports streaming, with the platform delivering 54 matches during the recent World Cup and plans for more premium sports features on the roadmap.
