wTVision maps out streamlined newsroom collaboration

Enabling consistent on-air mapping, wMaps aims to streamline operational collaboration across live production workflows including newsroom, weather coverage and more

wTVision has announced the launch of a broadcast-grade mapping platform.

Designed to fit within the wTVision on-air graphics and media ecosystem, wMaps provides newsroom and live production teams with a mapping layer to provide clear, on-air maps in support of location-based narratives.

From launch, two modules aim to meet the needs of distinct operational roles within the workflow.

wMaps Standalone aims to allow the design and animation of 2D and 3D maps via a Graphical User Interface (GUI) using keyframes, symbols, satellite imagery and OpenStreetMap-based visuals to deliver pre-rendered outputs to fit MAM-led distribution and playout routines.

Aiming to facilitate real-time collaboration for newsroom teams, the Client/Server module allows up to 10 concurrent users per server to create and manage maps simultaneously via a browser-based interface. Supporting rundown-driven triggering and automated playout, the wMaps module aims to allow mapping to form part of the daily routine, eliminating the issue of last-minute production requests.

Aligning newsroom operations and creative production under a single solution, wMaps aims to drive consistency in mapping for use in scenarios including breaking news, explainers, election coverage, severe weather tracking, sports storytelling and more.

Alex Roriz, VP global partnerships, business strategy and growth at wTVision, said, “In our work with media enterprises, we consistently see the same gap: maps are crucial to storytelling, yet they’re not embedded in the workflow”. wMaps brings mapping directly into the production chain, completing our end-to-end Graphics & Media offering and enabling newsroom and editorial teams to deliver location-driven stories with broadcast-grade consistency and operational confidence.”

Flávio Maurício, CTO at wTVision, added, “In today’s broadcast environment, speed and operational efficiency are fundamental. wMaps is a workflow-native mapping platform, fully embedded in production operations — not a standalone graphics silo. It combines real-time localisation, dynamic animation, and scalable performance to support modern newsroom media and graphics workflow execution.”

wMaps will be showcased at NAB Show 2026, with wTVision providing live demonstrations.
