Sony is expanding its sports business with the acquisition of KinaTrax, which provides markerless motion capture technology for in-game performance data on athletes.
According to the company, KinaTrax will bring its mo-cap technology to help Sony customers use sports data for athletes, teams, leagues and fans.
The company said KinaTrax joins Hawk-Eye, Beyond Sports and Pulselive in its sports businesses, with “a shared commitment to deliver best-in-class officiating, broadcast and digital solutions” to the world of sport.

Financial details of the acquisition were not revealed.
