Grass Valley has announced a multi-year framework to update the RAI (Radiotelevisione Italiana) camera fleet.
Building on a longstanding relationship between Grass Valley and the Italian national public broadcaster, the agreement to supply LDX 150 camera systems marks one of the largest camera refresh programmes in recent history, said the company. The first systems have already been deployed across RAI’s outside broadcast units.
The modernisation will take place progressively over the coming years, aiming to update RAI’s capabilities with increased operational flexibility to meet the needs of a wide range of production environments.
Providing a camera platform that supports current requirements alongside RAI’s continuing transition to IP-based workflows, the LDX 150 was chosen for its unique native IP connectivity, simplicity and HDR image performance.
Riccardo Rombaldoni, dirigente responsabile – ingegneria di realizzazione e gestione contenuti at RAI, commented, “As we continue to modernise our production infrastructure, we were looking for a camera platform that would support both our current operational needs and our future ambitions. The LDX 150 combines excellent image quality with native IP connectivity, HDR acquisition and intuitive operation, giving our production teams the flexibility to support a wide variety of production environments while building on the trusted relationship we have established with Grass Valley over many years.”
Carlos Ferreira, Grass Valley’s VP of sales, Southern Europe, added, “RAI has been a valued Grass Valley customer for many years, and this latest deployment reflects the trust we have built together over that time. We’re proud to continue supporting one of Europe’s leading public broadcasters as it modernises its production infrastructure with camera technology that combines outstanding image quality, IP connectivity and the flexibility to support evolving production requirements.”
