NRK has selected a range of Shotoku Broadcast Systems’ solutions for its studio update programme.
Shotoku has unveiled details of its work with the Norwegian state broadcaster, which has recently renovated two of its studios. NRK has used Shotoku’s original rail system since 2015 as part of its underfloor architecture for fully robotic studios. In Studios 5 and 7, the system has been upgraded to the latest SmartRail hardware. In Studio 7, the system has been complemented by the addition of three X/Y roaming Smartpeds.
Aiming to maximise flexibility with a shared control base, NRK has deployed Shotoku’s V3 TR-XT systems, enabling either of the two studios to be run by either control room.
Head of the upgrade project, Aksel Helgheim, said, “When the decision was made to update our on-air look and invest in new technologies, we were pleased to find that Shotoku could upgrade the rail systems we already owned to the latest specification. This allowed us to use more of the budget on robotic pedestals with SmartPed being the obvious choice for Studio 7. We also know we are in good hands when support is needed based on years of experience working with Shotoku”
James Eddershaw, MD of Shotoku Broadcast Systems added, “We love it when a long-term customer like NRK trusts us to upgrade their existing systems and also augments their studios with products like SmartPed and our new V3 TR-XT control systems.”
