Iris launch puts PTZ control in the cloud

The browser-based camera control application allows 'virtually any' PTZ camera to be remotely operated from any location

Iris has officially launched a new cloud-connected camera control platform.

Created to eliminate traditional camera operation constraints such as inconsistent control and hardware dependencies, the browser-based application enables universal, cross-brand control and full production management from any location.

Working with virtually any PTZ camera, the AI-powered platform automates traditionally manual tasks including subject tracking and framing, reducing the need for constant technical adjustments and allowing operators to focus on creativity. Designed for ease of use, Iris enables a single operator to manage multiple cameras across multiple locations, enhancing collaboration among remote teams and enabling scalability to meet production demands. The platform’s intuitive interface allows non-technical users to achieve professional results, said the company.

The desktop application provides rapid discovery and connectivity of more than 300 models of camera. Built directly into the firmware of Iris-enabled cameras, the solution connects instantly to the cloud with no additional hardware or setup necessary, a capability which debuts with support from a range of manufacturers including AIDA, BirdDog, Bolin, BZBGear, Everet, HDKATOV, Lumens, Marshall, NEOiD, Telycam, and Z CAM.

For cameras without Iris-enabled firmware, connectivity is provided via a bridging software solution which enables virtually any PTZ camera to be connected and controlled without additional hardware.

Noah Johnson, founder, Iris

Noah Johnson, founder of Iris, said, “Setup now takes minutes, not hours. Our custom drivers unlock every camera feature—not just the common ones—and our intelligent framing tools make operating cameras feel natural, fast, and cinematic. And because Iris lives in the cloud, your cameras are now truly remote—you can manage, access, and control them from anywhere, anytime.”

Commenting, John Wu, Marketing at AIDA Imaging, said, “From local studios to global stages, Iris gives our cameras the power to go wherever our customers do – secure, remote, and crystal-clear, without compromise.”

Dan Miall, CEO at BirdDog added, “At BirdDog, we’re committed to giving creators the freedom to work their way. Partnering with Iris extends that flexibility, adding powerful and intuitive ways to control our cameras from anywhere, helping creators focus on what matters most – telling great stories.”
