Gravity Media and Supercars partner to turbocharge Repco Bathurst 1000 coverage

Building on a partnership established in 2011, this year's production will see Gravity Media support the event with four high-definition OB trucks, more than 175 cameras and enough cabling to lap the circuit more than 8 times

Ahead of this year’s Repco Bathurst 1000 race, Gravity Media has revealed details of a partnership with Supercars Media to deliver all-screens coverage of the event.

Building on its long-term partnership with the Australian producer, Gravity Media will provide access to more than 175 cameras placed at key locations, including the pits, trackside and across sections of the track on a wire. RF handheld and speciality extreme super slo-mo cameras will be provided, as well as helicopter coverage.

Utilising technology provided by Gravity Media’s Globecam unit, 145 in-car cameras will capture on-track footage, aiming to provide a global audience with new angles and perspectives. More than 52 kilometres of cable and fibre will be used, enough to lap the track more than eight times.

Four high-definition OB trucks will support the event, with a production crew totalling more than 250. Additionally, Gravity Media will provide the systems for Supercars’ team radios as well as isolated camera coverage from the company’s bespoke Gravity Review System, enabling race officials and controllers to monitor every on-track moment across every race in the Repco Supercars Championship.

Gravity Media will also provide 5-camera live coverage on Fox Sports and Kayo of the pre-race Repco Bathurst 1000 Street Party, which takes place on the eve of the race and brings all 27 competing cars into the heart of the city.

Nathan Prendergast, head of broadcast at Supercars, commented, “What makes the Bathurst 1000 unique is not just the race itself, but the way we bring it to life for audiences. With more than 175 cameras, state-of-the-art broadcast trucks and a world-class production crew, we can tell the story of every lap, every pit stop and every moment that matters.”

Ben Madgwick, sales director at Gravity Media in Australia, added, “As Australia’s largest and most complex broadcast production, the Repco Bathurst 1000 continues to inspire us to innovate and elevate what’s possible in live sports coverage. Partnering with Supercars, Gravity Media is proud to deliver a broadcast that matches the scale and intensity of the event itself.”

The Repco Bathurst 1000 will be broadcast on Fox Sports, Kayo Sports, the Seven Network and 7plus in Australia from 9th to 12th October. Coverage will be broadcast around the world via Supercars’ international partners, including Sky in New Zealand and SuperView on the Supercars website and YouTube for outside Australia and New Zealand.
