LiveU has announced its solutions were selected by host broadcaster Actua Sport to support multi-venue coverage of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
With a requirement for stable infrastructure enabling the delivery of reliable live content from numerous venues across a range of networks, Actua Sport deployed 14 LiveU units, with the LU900Q intelligent production unit forming the backbone, bringing together native Live IQ (LIQ), advanced 5G architecture and dual-MMO antennas.
Dynamically switching eSIMs between mobile operators, LIQ aimed to deliver the strongest cellular connections at any given location and time, live and on air, helping to ensure broadcast-grade video across four venues and ten days of competition.
The LU900Q enabled ENG teams to move between locations contributing live and near-live content, including press conferences, athlete arrivals, side-event coverage and more, back to the broadcast operations centre. The mobile set-up provided crews with the flexibility to capture angles fixed infrastructure couldn’t reach. Multi-cam LU800 units were deployed across all Glasgow venues to provide an additional backup layer, while two more LU800s delivered 24/7 beauty shots directly to rights holders.
Actua Sport deployed more than 650 staff to produce 1,400 content hours, including a 24.7 official Games Channel, a real-time Content Hub and a daily highlights programme.

We also knew LiveU’s setup would let us scale easily during the games to capture the best content and share it with the participating rights holders.”
Content reaching the Glasgow broadcast operations centre and linked to Actua Sport’s Geneva facility was distributed via LiveU Matrix. Multiple live feeds were provided via SRT, with Actua Sport routing content to any taker with a single operation. Multiple takers used the feeds for linear TV transmission, OTT platforms, and social media. LiveU Reliable Transport (LRT) and SRT delivery was delivered through LiveU’s cloud infrastructure.
