Blackmagic Design has unveiled a new feature in its cloud storage offering that allows a camera to sync media into a DaVinci Resolve bin while it’s being recorded.
Blackmagic Cloud Sync enables editors to see media arriving in real-time and start editing immediately, wherever they are in the world.
As footage filmed using Blackmagic’s Cinema Camera 6K, PYXIS, URSA Cine and URSA Broadcast G2 cameras is recorded in H.264 the content can be live synced to Blackmagic Cloud and made immediately available to DaVinci Resolve workstations.
Camera operators log into Blackmagic Cloud and select a DaVinci Resolve project before filming. The recording will start live syncing to all connected DaVinci Resolve workstations.
The solution also includes a multi-sync feature so the editor can pick the best angle, said Blackmagic.
For news workflows, a camera such as URSA Broadcast G2 can start recording and syncing into the editing system the moment an event starts to unfold, said the company. The editor doesn’t have to wait for the camera to stop recording, as they can edit a news segment the moment the camera starts rolling, getting the pictures on air within a few seconds.
Blackmagic Cloud Live Sync will be public beta in mid-June as a free download for Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K and Blackmagic URSA Broadcast G2, said the company. The Blackmagic Camera app for iPhone will include this feature in an update in the coming weeks.
