Bitfocus releases latest upgrade to its Buttons platform

Responding to user requests, the upgrade provides an enhanced security suite and more to the cross-vendor control interface

Bitfocus has released the latest version of its Buttons platform. Enabling control of technologies across multiple vendors, Buttons allows users to tailor workflows for each operator position using drag-and-drop software. In response to demand from users, the upgrade aims to extend enterprise functionality through a number of new features and functions.

Reflecting the growing expectation of high availability systems, version 1.6 provides the core software running on three computers or virtual machines in parallel, aiming to ensure performance is uninterrupted. Additionally, a comprehensive user and role management regime provides robust security, ensuring only authorised users can access control positions.

Authentication is by PIN and also NFC where available. Single sign-on is integrated with enterprise security platforms such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra, GitHub and Okta. Users can also gain access via a passkey or WebAuthn with avatars showing managers who is working in the system in real time.

Ole-Andreas Løvland, Bitfocus CEO, commented, “Our customers now trust Buttons for complete control in critical live events and productions. That puts a huge responsibility on us to ensure that the systems are secure and reliable: only the authorised operators can log in, and when they do the system will perform exactly as they expect. We continue to develop our enterprise features to ensure that, and release 1.6 demonstrates that commitment.

“At the same time, we continue to evolve capabilities, reflecting the changes happening across the industry. We reflect the developments in NMOS specifications, for example, so users can expect compliant equipment to be accurately and quickly discovered and registered. Our team is also in constant contact with key manufacturers, so as they add functionality we ensure our APIs are updated to incorporate them, so our customers are free to create the show they want.”

Buttons’ tailored interfaces run on mobiles and laptops as well as hardware such as the Elgato Stream Deck.
