LTN and Appear have announced a collaboration to combine Appear’s ultra-low latency encoding platform with LTN’s global IP network, aiming to provide an integrated solution for live event contribution and distribution. The integration enables real-time operational transparency, proactive network management and assured service for live broadcasts.
Appear’s X Platform provides high-density encoding and decoding supporting JPEG XS, JPEG 2000, AVC, HEVC, and ST 2110 workflows, widely deployed across Tier-1 broadcast and telco environments. Integrated directly into LTN’s purpose-built IP backbone, Appear-originated feeds are transported securely and redundantly to any destination worldwide.
Feeds are extended via LTN into global distribution, adding point-to-multipoint delivery, conditional access, rights management, multi-language versioning, graphics insertion, and metadata enrichment, boosting monetisation opportunities across linear, OTT and FAST platforms, said the companies.
Malik Khan, executive chairman and co-founder of LTN, said, “The satellite-to-IP transition is no longer theoretical. Broadcasters are operating IP at scale today. By combining Appear’s best-in-class encoding with LTN’s fully managed global network, we’re delivering the infrastructure and execution layer required to power that shift.”
“Appear’s technology is trusted by the world’s most demanding live productions. Integrating the X Platform within the LTN Network extends that performance across a managed, global distribution backbone, enabling customers to scale with confidence,” added Ed McGivern, general manager North America at Appear.
