Belgium’s RTBF selects EVS’s Flexible Control Room solution for all-IP production hub

RTBF has selected Tactiq, an interface that decouples from backend systems, giving users the ability to assign any workstation to any task

Belgian broadcaster RTBF is employing EVS’s Flexible Control Room (FCR) solution, including the brand new Tactiq modular control room interface, for its all-IP production hub, which is due to open next year.

The hub will operate within a fully software-defined, reconfigurable environment designed around flexibility and future-proof performance.

As part of the new technology being deployed in the hub, RTBF has selected Tactiq, an interface that decouples from backend systems, giving users the ability to assign any workstation to any task, operated via touchscreen or physical controller. Each operator position becomes multifunctional, enhancing collaboration, maximising team efficiency, and enabling more flexible workflows, said EVS.

Built on open, interoperable technology and supporting both IP and legacy workflows, FCR aligns with EBU’s Dynamic Media Facility concept for modern, software-defined production infrastructures.

“Together with EVS, we’ve reimagined the control room as a flexible space that adapts to our production needs,” said Jean-Paul Philippot, CEO of RTBF. “Tactiq and the Flexible Control Room enable us to design control environments around how we want to work, not the other way around.”

Serge Van Herck, CEO of EVS added: “With Tactiq and the wider FCR solution, we’re offering unprecedented flexibility and scalability for broadcasters, while creating new opportunities for production staff to take on different operational roles. Our partnership with RTBF has been instrumental in validating the FCR vision. Their bold, forward-looking approach shows what’s possible when innovation and collaboration meet at the heart of live production.”
