WCME: “The power of the podcast”

The popular ‘What Caught My Eye’ session series wrapped up by sending producer and social media expert Muki Kulhan into the halls to come up with her ‘best buys’ for web broadcasters.

Her top picks included Sony’s RXO mini action-camera [Hall 13.A10], a GoPro rival with WiFi links, that “is extremely robust” and versatile with 4K functionality and super
slow-motion all in a miniature package weighing just 110g, for about €850.

Kulhan was impressed with City-Producer [Hall 7.G12]. “It’s an app designed by a broadcaster for broadcasters,” she said, with amazing functionality and enables just about every need with waveform, vector-scope adjustment, digital stabilisation, plus edit functions.

“It’s a self-sufficient end-to-end production unit.”

Norway-based VizRT [Hall 7.A20] was a “stand-out” pick for social publishing that makes it easy to create a one-person show if needed. Primestream [Hall 7.D21] also made her list for its dynamic media management, 360˚ content and 4K capabilities for instant upload to streaming sites.

Mobile Viewpoint and Spot On [Hall 14.F21] were also worth a visit, while anti-piracy solutions from TMG [Hall 14.F11] made Kulhan’s list. Stream Guys handled the often forgotten but important audio side of the business, including functionality for the hearing impaired.

Kulhan also mentioned Facebook 360 [Hall 14.B26] and praised its publishing tools for 360˚ with its open source video potential.

“It makes 360˚ very easy for Facebook.”
