Rohde & Schwarz DVS will be presenting the further development of its VENICE system at IBC2012. The Media Production Hub includes file-based functions such as file ingest, transcoding, transwrapping, distribution, contribution and media transfer. In conjunction with Avid ISIS and Avid Interplay, VENICE allows files ingested from professional discs or P2 storage media to be transferred directly to Avid ISIS systems. Another new feature integrated into VENICE is the open, web service controlled FIMS (Framework for Interoperable Media Services) communications standard, which has been approved by the AMWA (Advanced Media Workflow Association) in the USA and the EBU (European Broadcast Union) in Europe. The integration of FIMS into the DVS Media Production Hub controls the recording, transforming and transfer of video files. The newly developed VENICE View software uses IP technology, which has already been successfully integrated into VENICE, and offers the user multi-viewer functionality without the need for additional HD-SDI cabling. VENICE View offers an overview of all ingest, playout and transcoding channels.
