TVT/DMC moves forward with virtualisation

Media services company TVT, which acquired DMC in July, has been offering tours of its nearby facility for existing and prospective clients during IBC2017. Earlier this year, the company had announced the launch of a full-IP virtualised playout platform, based on Pebble Beach Orca. DMC/TVT’s fully virtualised software-defined ‘private broadcast cloud’ enables its customers to benefit from the agility and flexibility of an all-IP world, said Pebble.

The platform will eventually be used by more than 80 channels. The all-IP architecture enables TVT/DMC to commission and deliver new channels to market faster than ever before, said Pebble.

Also new at IBC, and very much a part of the company’s Orca story, is Pebble’s integration with the NDI IP video standard, to remove possible objectionable monitoring delays that can be inherent to real-time video over IP virtualised workflows.

NDI technology now provides low-latency confidence monitoring for virtualised Orca software-defined integrated channel systems.

Pebble said this development increases Orca’s suitability for the playout of high value live, reactive channels and latency-sensitive applications.
