ToolsOnAir introduced its ‘TV Station in a Mac Mini’ at IBC2011, and this year the company has reported that its Broadcast Suite has become a part of more than 350 broadcast facilities in 47 countries.
Dutch broadcasters Xite implemented a ToolsOnAir broadcast system for their music TV and on demand cable and IPTV network, utilising just two Apple Mac Mini computers to run their 24/7 video playout service. In Dubai, broadcast equipment rental and sales company Best Broadcast Hire (BBH) recently unveiled its Shooter6 OB Van, a compact mobile broadcasting and graphics system based around a single Mac Mini and ToolsOnAir’s Broadcast Suite of multichannel ingest and playback tools. California-based Action Sports Productions used ToolsOnAir to create a live production center, including computer graphics, that can fit in a suitcase.
In newsroom environments, ToolsOnAir’s integration with systems including Octopus, AP ENPS, and Annova Open Media enables users to provide automated 24/7 playout, as well as integrated newsroom playout and real-time graphics.
ToolOn Air suggests that together with a Thunderbolt-connected multi-I/O interface, its Broadcast Suite could effectively turn a Mac Mini into a “professional, multi-camera broadcast video facility.”
At IBC, it is demoing a workflow from ingest to playout, showcasing the integration capabilities of its just:mam Media Asset Management system.
