Reliable video on a stick

The challenges of recording HD video on to USB are considerable, but DTL’s Buzz-USB Multi 5 offered peace of mind operational and functional reliability when it launched last year.

The modular, multi-channel USB-based 1RU five-channel USB recorder accepts the full range of HD formats, including 1080 50P 3G-HD video, and records onto a dedicated USB stick.

Three new models are on the floor this year. The Buzz-USB Sport shares many features of the existing BuzzUSB Multi 5 but includes front panel video connectivity and a scaler allowing the recorded files to be used within sports analytics systems. The Buzz-USB Super16/4, also making a debut at IBC2017, has 16 USB interface drives.

These are allocated to four groups. At the front end of the device, an internal 8×4 selection router permits all of the eight inputs to be routed to any of the four groups. Therefore, for each group, up to four simultaneous video recordings can be made.

The third new product is the Buzz-USB XFR, a power dual-channel video recorder with unlimited record configurations, including timecode overlay, watermarking and logo insertion. It also includes real-time picture monitoring, clip replay and clip editing.
