Real-world sport on stand

This year is filled with big sporting events, and at the Broadcast Manufactur (BroaMan) stand the company is discussing how Portuguese broadcast audio specialist CLS Audiovisuais used BroaMan’s Mux22 at Wimbledon.

CLS had installed the 1RU multi-format transmission device in one of its full HD camera and control OBs. The Mux22 offers every signal needed in 1RU, combining 3G/HD/SD-SDI I/O with Optocore and SANE digital audio networks. It can transport video, as well as audio and data,

on a single duplex fibre. In the Wimbledon example, CLS constructed a point-to-point system with 12-in/4-out at one end and 4-in/12-out at the other.

Configured with a master control room and two galleries for beIN Sports (MENA) in France, CLS’ OB truck included a studio, two commentary positions for each, plus reporters and ENG crews. The Mux22 enabled them to uplink the signal, simply and economically, to the studios in Paris, said Broaman.

During Wimbledon, the OB van received 14 signal feeds from host broadcaster BBC over a distance of 250 metres from the transmission centre. Mux22 enabled the company to take many HD signals and transmit them down a single fibre.
