San Antonio-based NewTek has announced that it is shipping the TriCaster 850 Extreme HD portable live production system a full quarter earlier than expected.

TriCaster is said to blur the lines between live and post-production. The system enables users to simultaneously produce, live stream, broadcast, project and record HD and SD network-style productions. A single operator or small team can switch between multiple cameras, virtual inputs and live virtual sets, while inserting clips, titles and motion graphics with multi-channel effects.

Target markets include sports organisations, schools, broadcasters, houses of worship, webcasters, and government agencies.

Features of the TriCaster 850 Extreme – which has been enhanced in several ways since it was first introduced at NAB 2011 – include: proprietary NewTek IsoCorder multi-track recording technology that enables the recording of up to eight channels of video, simultaneously from any input or output, with multi-video recording support and adjustable audio headroom; support for two simultaneous Apple AirPlay audio/video streams; the ability to deliver transitions embedded with full-colour, motion video effects and audio from a total of 11 animation stores; web stream manager; advanced audio mixer; performance enhancements including adjutable audio level settings for each clip; selection and importation of a wider variety of media files, including Apple ProRes; alpha channel output; multi-tiered fail-safe; and Linear Timecode (LTC) support.

NewTek products are distributed and suppported in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Russia and Pakistan by 3D Storm (NewTek Europe), located near Bordeaux, France.
