How long have you been going to IBC?
I’m a newbie! Only about 5 years.
What’s your typical IBC routine: what are you there to see/learn, who are you there to meet?
I’m wearing multiple hats. As the principal of our multi-media production company, DeLouise Enterprises, I’m talking to companies who engage our services for video and social content, strategy, and training for their marketing teams. As a technologist and digital storytelling evangelist, I’m looking at trends and tools affecting our industry (remote production, GenAI/ML, metaverse, blockchain, etc.). As the founder of the global #GALSNGEAR community, I’m meeting with allies in our efforts to advance visibility, networks and training for women in technical and leadership roles in media and entertainment. So my schedule is packed!
Why is IBC important to you in a professional capacity, and how does the show compare to others on the calendar?
There is a different vibe to IBC than some of the other shows I attend (Infocomm, NAB Show). It’s a great place to connect, and often continue conversations from other venues. Plus, Amsterdam!
What are you most looking forward to at IBC 2024?
I’m really jazzed about the #GALSNGEAR beta-testing initiative, which we’ve piloted with two major industry leaders. We have meetings with several companies interested in our curated tester community. Women, and especially women of colour, are often left out of beta testing groups, which affects product development as well as their own careers.
What’s your top tip for anyone attending IBC for the first time?
Hydrate (in between beers and coffee!), wear comfortable shoes, and don’t pack your schedule so tightly that you aren’t open to new opportunities and impromptu meetings!
