Module offers more freedom for cable TV ops

A dense QAM module has been added to the Luminato headend platform by Teleste.

The 24 QAM module is designed to provide a very compact edge QAM platform for cable TV operators, allowing up to 144 QAM channels in one RU Luminato chassis. Offering high-quality QAM modulation with agile up-conversion, the company claimed the new module can provide smooth broadcast delivery over an HFC network and ensure the availability of high-performing video services.

The 24 QAM module is capable of supporting a 1200Mbps payload, and flexible channel allocation enables it to fit any of the six Luminato slots. The unit comprises 24 independent multiplexers.

Teleste said that the Luminato is designed to give users freedom in application design and to allow them to develop services that fulfil customer expectations of an attractive and entertaining TV experience.

Due to its modular structure, the company claimed that the platform is able to support any combination of the available modules, and can enable customers to adjust the service according to their specific needs.

According to Teleste, the fully integrated Luminato platform is trusted by cable

TV operators and telcos, as well as hospitality service providers of varying sizes and feature demands.
