Matrix switch expansion

The FlexLink switch matrix series includes the company’s scalable FlexLink K7-Pro 6RU/19-inch switch matrix system. It is available in sizes from 8:8 to 64:64 and expandable to up to 256:256 (symmetrically or asymmetrically, in increments of eight). Also included is the new

FlexLink S7A-1616 1RU/19-inch rack-mount switch matrix, which comes as standard in an 8:8 configuration, but can be incrementally expanded to 16:16 in the field via licence-key activation.

The company says that FlexLink switch matrix systems are especially designed for RF distribution and signal management architectures and perfectly suited for teleports, satellite earth stations and broadcast infrastructures as well as for DSNG and cable/IPTV headends.

Features include RF power monitoring, variable gain-control, switchable LNB supply and a 10MHz external reference port while the FlexLink K7-Pro can be equipped with a built-in signal quality analyser, allowing RF and DVB-S/S2 signal monitoring for any input or output. FlexLink matrices can also be equipped with optical inputs.

The company’s RedLink FLCRplus is described as a versatile and flexible RF-over-fibre system that allows various redundant optical transmission configurations such as N+1 or N+2.

Manual or automatic redundancy switching from active to hot-standby TX and RX modules provide what RF-Design says is stable and interruption-free signal transmission at any time.
