Masstech, co-exhibiting with MOG Technologies, is presenting MassStore software version 8.0 at IBC2015.
Masstech said it wants to show how rich support for unstructured metadata ‘dramatically enhances asset discoverability and usage’ in its flagship media asset management system.
The company explained that enabling assets to be found quickly, easily and accurately in a media asset management system depends not only on having a MAM with robust capabilities, but also on the breadth, depth and accuracy of metadata associated with those assets. [Some] structured data such as descriptive metadata can, however, be time-consuming or expensive to add, either because of the manual effort required or the cost of automated systems such as speech recognition to derive the data.
MassStore 8.0 includes features to enable documents and other file types to be associated with media assets, and uses this information in its search capabilities. Search terms can be matched across both field-based metadata and unstructured metadata such as documents, closed captions and XML attachments.
Savva Mueller, Masstech’s director and general manager of enterprise solutions, said, “The ability to efficiently leverage unstructured metadata in our version 8.0 software enables the use of rich, readily-available sources of searchable information without requiring significant manual effort or expense.”
