Live 4K broadcasting chain

Specifically developed for next-gen television standards, the MPEG-H Audio codec is now part of the recently published South Korean standard for terrestrial UHDTV. MPEG-H Audio is in the process of integration into televisions and professional equipment in advance of the launch of a South Korean terrestrial UHDTV system in February 2017.

Most recently, DS Broadcast and Kai Media, South Korean broadcast equipment manufacturers, announced the availability of MPEG-H Audio in their latest 4K encoder products. Fraunhofer is also presenting these 4K encoders at its booth during IBC.

The MPEG-H Audio system developed by Fraunhofer is designed to work with today’s broadcast and streaming equipment, and is part of the ATSC3.0 A/342 candidate standard. MPEG-H includes features such as object-based audio, which allows viewers to
adjust the sound mix to their preferences.
