What will you be speaking about at IBC2024?
We will provide an update on the industry’s progress in implementing the MovieLabs 2030 Vision and discuss what’s next as we approach the mid-point on this 10-year journey. We will be joined on stage by a panel of our studio members along with industry leaders all working to realize the MovieLabs 2030 Vision.
What do you hope the audience takes away from your session?
- The 2030 Vision is more important now than ever given the current economic pressures we are facing as an industry.
- Key industry stakeholders are aligned on and committed to the 2030 Vision and it informs their organisations’ technology strategy.
- There has been great progress so far as a result of key industry stakeholder implementation and adoption of the 2030 Vision resulting in demonstrable benefits to productions.
- While there has been great progress, there is still work that remains to be done (especially focused on interoperability) to realize the 2030 Vision – and this work requires collaboration across a range of industry stakeholders.
- When key industry stakeholders are working together collaboratively and deliberately around this shared vision, it benefits the industry as well as their individual organisations.
- MovieLabs recently announced the formation of a new Industry Forum as the place where innovative media companies can work together to realise the benefits of the 2030 Vision.
What do you view as the key technologies defining the industry at the moment?
We are in the era of massive cloud storage and compute, networks, software, real-time engines, machine learning and artificial intelligence – all of which will have a significant impact on media creation.
Why is IBC an important date in the media tech calendar?
It brings together the global media, entertainment and technology industry providing the venue and programming that enables participants to learn from each other and connect with their industry peers. We enjoy IBC as it’s an opportunity to bring our message from Hollywood to a global audience and meet face-to-face with colleagues and companies from across Europe who are doing some amazing innovative work.
Richard Berger will be on the panel at MovieLabs 2030 – A step closer to the vision on Friday 13th September at 3.30pm.
