How an AI agent is simplifying live production while improving audio quality

Tori Bai, associate director of product management, cloud platform and software solutions at Shure, explains how IBC Accelerator AI Assistance Agents in Live Production is using natural language to simplify audio setup and more

Please explain what your Accelerator project is in as much detail as possible.

Shure is contributing to AI Agent Assistants for Live Production, which is exploring how to execute complex professional audio device actions with simple and intuitive natural language commands. Acts as a smart audio engineer for live sound, recording studios, and broadcast environments – instantly configuring microphones, equalisers, coverage areas, and system presets.

Who is involved in the project?

CUEZ, Amira Labs, Highfield-AI, Monks, Cuepilot, Shure, EVS, and Google.

Why do you believe the project is important to the media industry?

Live production setups and live operation can be complex. Our AI agent simplifies workflows, saves time, and improves audio quality.

What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve faced as part of your project?
  • Configuring the IoT infrastructure for devices to be reachable by the agent;
  • Setting up a secure communication between the agent and local devices
  • Ensuring the Shure audio AI works smoothly with the orchestrator in a multi-agent environment.
Why did you want to be part of this year’s IBC Accelerator programme?

To collaborate with others, test our ideas in real-world production settings, and push audio hardware intelligence and quality to the next level.

What can IBC Show attendees expect to see from you in Amsterdam?

A live demo showing how the AI agent controls Shure microphone arrays in a real-time production environment. An AI audio agent, that:

  • Understands natural language audio engineering requests (chat-style interface)
  • Performs real-time device status queries across multiple Shure devices
  • Manages microphone channel coverage positioning with precise coordinate control
  • Loads and switches between user presets for different room configurations
  • Configures EQ settings with professional-grade filter controls
  • Initiates automatic microphone positioning for optimal audio capture
  • Controls lobe steering for directional audio pickup
  • Enforces strict parameter constraints for professional audio standards
  • Maintains intelligent caching for efficient device state management
