How AI can deliver a future where content isn’t just consumed, but experienced interactively

Henrik Dige Christensen, CCO at Spectral Compute, discusses the reasoning behind the IBC Incubator: Changing the Game Again

Please explain what your Accelerator project is in as much detail as possible?

Changing the Game Again derived from the successful 2024 incubator project called “AI Media Production Labs”. The new PoC aims to deliver personalised highlight reels and real-time sports data based on your personal preferences, all through the power of AI and Machine Learning.

Spectral Compute sees this Accelerator project as an opportunity to leverage our expertise within the AI / Machine Learning space. In this phase of the project, our role is to establish a methodology for training this virtual AI companion model on a multi-GPU AMD hardware configuration.

We consider this to be a stepping stone to implement and leverage our SCALE solution to AI-powered viewing experiences. This solution would allow an AI/Machine Learning developer to use existing CUDA frameworks on AMD hardware without any code-base rewrites or performance loss. The value in this is that a developer gets more freedom in choosing the best hardware for their current project without needing to think about additional software overhead.

Who is involved in the project?

This project is being organised by a consortium of various industry experts. Ranging from a university to media companies to software and hardware companies.

Spectral Compute really sees this as an opportunity to leverage their expertise together with other experts in their own respective fields. This is an opportunity to be on the frontier of a marriage between AI and Media Technology.

Champions: IET, Institute of Cultural and Creative Industries (University of Kent), Verizon Business, BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service), Channel 4 .

Participants: Xansr Media, Tesla Technologies & Software S.L., Spectral Compute Ltd, Monks, AMD/HP, Chyron.

Why do you believe the project is important to the media industry?

In an age where audiences crave immediacy, authenticity, and personalisation, especially within the sports sector, the media industry faces growing pressure to evolve its delivery methods. Fans are inundated with an overwhelming stream of content—often lacking relevance or timeliness. This Accelerator Project directly addresses that challenge by harnessing AI and Machine Learning to deliver real-time sports data and personalised highlight reels, aligned with each viewer’s preferences. It represents a future where content isn’t just consumed—it’s curated, tailored, and experienced interactively.

At the heart of the project, Spectral Compute is pioneering a methodology for training virtual AI companion models on multi-GPU AMD hardware configurations. This technical innovation is key to enabling scalable AI-powered viewing experiences. Our SCALE solution further amplifies this impact, allowing developers to run CUDA-based frameworks on AMD systems without any code rewrites or performance trade-offs. That means more flexibility, less friction, and faster innovation across the board.

What´s been the biggest challenge you’ve faced as part of the project?

Leveraging the different fields of experience between various companies and converting this into a best-in-class project to maximise results is always a challenge. It proves to be time-consuming if done correctly, but when it works, it’s all worth it since it really boosts creativity, innovation and eventually the result.

During this project, we have experienced this as a very productive endeavour. Each participant has shown their own strengths and we managed to leverage this in a professional manner.

Why did you want to be a part of this year’s IBC Accelerator programme?

First of all, they are fun! Secondly, working with colleagues from different companies really gives you unique new insights and especially inspiration which is the source for new great ideas and drives innovation.

This has especially been a very good source of inspiration on how to combine the new world of Artificial Intelligence with the already existing media and entertainment industry. We think there are going to be very exciting times ahead regarding this fusion between these two industries.

What can IBC Show attendees expect to see from you in Amsterdam?

A showcase that demonstrates the power of AI to enhance the currently existing viewer experience.

  • See the game as a coach-tailored analytics
  • Become a true fan – tailored highlights to your liking
  • Track your favourite player

The data produced will be enabled by leveraging Finlay’s (Spectral Compute) experience in the field of AI/ML.
