Envivio will highlight technologies that allow broadcasters to deliver live and on-demand services for mobile, internet and SD/HDTV screens from a single platform and headend simultaneously, writes David Davies.
The company’s video architecture is said to provide broadcasters and pay TV operators with the ability to deliver TV everywhere, as well as scalability that enables rapid support for the new devices and fast networks that subscribers require.
Envivio’s architecture is built on three pillars. The Envivio 4Caster C4 is described as the only software-based, multi-profile encoding solution in the industry that simultaneously delivers traditional broadcast TV services to mobile and internet-enabled devices, as well as traditional TV services, using a single platform and a single headend. Envivio Genesis is a unified, broadcast standards-based mezzanine format that supports multiple streams simultaneously and reduces backbone bandwidth requirements for multi-screen services by 50 per cent or more when compared with delivering separate formats for each device. Finally, the Envivio Halo Network Media Processor enables packaging, encryption and distribution of video streams at the edge of the network, away from the headend.
