Duo offers more capacity

Users of cameras needing longer run times or with high current needs could be catered for by the recently introduced Duo-C190 compact high-capacity, high-load battery. It weighs about 1kg, which is light for a battery with a capacity of 185Wh.

It supports a continuous load of 11A/120W, which is suitable for cameras with demanding power requirements or for users of larger LED lights.

It includes a new D-Tap advanced socket, which not only offers conventional DC out, but will also permit controlled charging from a small lightweight travel charger that IDX is also releasing. There is also a second D-Tap DC output and a USB power output with a current rating of 2.3A rather than the 1.0A of earlier Endura Duo batteries.

IDX has worked with Panasonic Sanyo (which supplies the Lithium ion cells) on the design of the battery protection circuitry, and the Duo Compact meets stringent PSE safety regulations.

Currently Japanese-specific but likely to be adopted worldwide, the regulations demand that individual Lithium ion cells are isolated from each other within the battery in a honeycomb-like structure.
