Cabling specialists Prysmian Group has been involved in all the major outside broadcast cable installations for this year’s main sports events in Europe and Asia via its well-known Draka brand.

For the UEFA Euro 2012 Championship Draka cable installations were deployed within all of the newly built or upgraded stadia in the host countries. For Donbass Arena, the internal HD infrastructure cabling project management and installation was handled by Prysmian’s Ukraine partner, MacHouse. “The successful Donbass project was a showcase reference for other stadiums,” said Illya Volovich, head of MacHouse broadcast solutions department. Prsysmian delivered 200,000 metres of cable for this project.

More than 100,000 metres of premium-quality Draka cabling of various types was used for a new sports arena built for the Asian Football Confederation in Tashkent. “We use various types of Draka cabling for outside broadcasting vehicles and stadium infrastructures and have always been able to rely on its premium quality,” said Wladislaw Grabowski, CTO/Technical Director of the integrator, Broadcast Solutions.

Draka broadcast cables were widely deployed for the Olympics, together with data communications cables for broadband data transmission, telephone and IP network infrastructure. Draka cables also connected CCTV network and alarm systems.

Draka’s Triax HD cables allow camera crew up to 2km of mobile camera freedom for live broadcasts, while the latest hybrid HD camera cables with BendBright bend-insensitive fibre combine the power of fibre with the ruggedness and reliability of copper.
