TeliaSonera International Carrier has launched its Cross Border Remote HD Production Solution, the company’s latest innovative, high quality offering, which is being showcased here at IBC in hall 3, writes Heather McLean.
The Remote Production Solution utilises TeliaSonera’s award winning fibre broadcast network, the largest in Europe, and promises to remove the need for onsite outside broadcast (OB) infrastructure and personnel.
International remote production exploits the unlimited bandwidth offered by TeliaSonera and presents a real alternative to satellite, where gaining access to capacity at these levels can be a challenge. In addition, fibre offers the lowest possible latency, enabling true real time TV production over long distances and across international borders.
TeliaSonera is showcasing this innovative new broadcast practice by delivering four uncompressed HD feeds on its MediaConnect platform from The Royal Tennis Club in Stockholm to a production team here at IBC, 1500km away.
Erik Hallberg, president at TeliaSonera International Carrier, commented: “TeliaSonera International Carrier has a longstanding relationship with key international broadcasters. We’re proud to offer the broadcast industry this innovative solution, which we believe will completely revolutionise outside broadcasting. We will continue to build and support on the Cross Border Remote Production Solution with our unrivalled reach and depth across Europe, the best customer service in our industry.”
The announcement follows a period of testing with Twentyfourseven, one of Scandanavia’s biggest independent production companies, which utilised TeliaSonera’s fiber network in conjunction with Net Insight’s Nimbra Platform.
Kent Lundgren, CEO, Twentyfourseven, commented: “TeliaSonera’s Cross Border Remote HD Production Solution allows us to deliver content, particularly live events such as sports and music performances, in a really efficient and cost effective manner. This is especially important in an age when budgets are slimmer and audience’s expectations are higher than ever, demanding quality programming across numerous platforms.”
TeliaSonera International Carrier is the owner and operator of the largest fibre optic network in Europe, the third largest in the world, serving more than 85% of all European ISPa. Its Media Content service offers international video contribution and distribution over a global fiber network infrastructure.
