‘Apple are our friends,’ says Envivio CEO

The 11-year-old company is riding high on the back of a first-half doubling of revenues and the extensive deployment of its TV Everywhere services. As Envivio CEO Julien Signès told The IBC Daily, “these are exciting times for our company”.

“These are exciting times for our company,” said Envivio CEO Julien Signès (pictured). He has every reason to be excited. The 11-year-old company’s revenues doubled in the first half, it is profitable – and it counts among its customers many industry-leading names, including Belgacom, Orange France and Stofa Denmark, who have launched new multi-screen TV services for their subscribers using the Envivio 4Caster C4 encoding platform, writes Ian McMurray.

According to Signès, these market leaders are utilising the Envivio platform to create a variety of innovative services that range from over the top (OTT) TV available to alternative viewing screens in the home, to comprehensive TV Everywhere services that enable subscribers to watch TV on traditional TV sets, PCs, tablets or smartphones wherever they go.

“Over 250 customers have now deployed our solution,” said Signès, “and many of those deployments are multi-screen.” Asked about what it is that is propelling the multiscreen market, Signès smiled. “Apple are our friends,” he said, going on to make a compelling case for the availability of consumer platforms like the iPad and iPod that are changing the way consumers think about entertainment. This, together with what Signès believes is the company’s leadership in multi-screen technology – “we’ve been working on it for over five years” – is what is helping his business to succeed.
